The Name

“Cassebba-Cassinee”
Porta-Cassebba was the closing door of the city walls, built to protect the village from barbaric invasions.
The name "Cassebba" has Arabic origins, it derives from Casbah; “Cassinee”- Calcinate refers to lime mortar, as formerly in this district there were fornaces producing lime.
